Driving User Engagement with Mobile Applications
The former version of the mobile app had several issues. It had been built using PhoneGap, and wasn’t native to either the Android or iOS platforms. It was generally unstable with frequent crashes, and when iOS 8 was released, became completely unusable. We also wanted to give it a facelift to bring it more in line with the current Pacific Pride branding while implementing some new features while we were at it.
With native versions of each app available, the experience is now much more reliable and stable. We added a revenue stream for the client with mobile advertising, and created an interface in their existing CMS for the Pacific Pride website that allows them to udpate certain parts of the app in real time, including timely special alerts that display when the app is launched, and the ability for franchisees to promote their locations with the use of special offers.
This latest version of the app also gave Pacific Pride the ability to offer their franchisees advertising space on the search results page that are geo-located based on the user. This is back-filled with AdMob inventory when not being used by Pacific Pride, providing an incremental revenue stream regardless of franchisee participation.
