Helping OAR Add Value for their Members

The Problem

Overall, the Oregon Association of REALTORS® (OAR) brand was in need of an overhaul with a dated logo and diluted messaging. They were losing touch with their member base, particularly in the online realm. The numbers backed it up: traffic had stagnated for their aging website, and the average time on site was in a steady decline. The home page of their website had become a collage of the different factions within OAR vying for space, and many items were outdated or led to dead end links. The lack of a content strategy and information architecture ultimately led to a very poor user experience.

The Solution

The DHX team immersed themselves into the world of the realtor, and got to know OAR from the inside out. With stakeholder interviews, surveys and client meetings, we found and cracked their pain points. They wanted a heavy focus on the members to add value to their memberships, so we provided a login area that is tied into their membership database to perform a number of key functions, such as membership renewals, class and event registrations, even a feature to print out customized completion certificates. Event management, which was non-existent on their previous site, was also a very important component for OAR and we gave them a completely customized and editable event calendar with the ability to easily add events. The result was a site that won the best Best of the Web for 2015 by the National Association of Realtors.
